With this edition of Aviation News Journal, we have reduced the amount of news to make space for more articles. Instead of having topical news in a printed magazine, which sometimes takes a while to reach our readers, it makes more sense to have it on our website, where news reports can be accessed instantly, while they are still relevant. The purpose of this magazine, especially in modern times when news can be read mere minutes after events take place, is to educate and entertain. We have been working behind the scenes and have quite a bit of educational content lined up for future editions, while not neglecting the ‘entertainment’, primarily in the form of interesting photoshoots we have planned.
Meanwhile, we have some exciting developments which will be revealed over the next few months. I do not want to say too much at this point in time, but it involves reaching more readers with more content, much quicker and efficiently than we have been able to in the past. The technology involved in doing so is still quite new, so the new territory is somewhat uncharted, but suffice to say it is an exciting direction for the magazine.
With regards to this edition of ANJ, I would like to say a special thank you to members of the Calgary Recreational and Ultralight Flying Club, who have bent over backwards to help us capture quality photographs for the Sensenich Propellers article on page 18 - all on relatively short notice. Stu Simpson’s K&S Cavalier, along with Carl Forman’s RV-9, looked stunning on a sunny day at Chestermere-Kirkby Field east of Calgary, AB.
Due to travel restrictions, we will not be covering this year's edition of Sun ’n Fun, held annually in Florida, at least not in person, but with the return of certain live events, we will certainly aim to bring you photographs and videos of as many local and international airshows as we can, over the course of 2021. This is a challenging time for the aviation industry, but as can be seen in the inspiring article written by Kathy Wrobel on page 28, this can also be a time of new opportunities. It is just a matter of finding them.
Until next time, fly safely.
